This article explains the steps to preserve or restore the content of a language file. This uses the Bulk Language editor where the formatting of the constant and values are in a raw form. Take care in not adjusting the content itself as this can render the Language file unusable.

Preserving the Language Content

Access the Language topic and select from the Language Overrides.

Copy the bulk content

  • Choose the Bulk Editor

  • Place the cursor into the content

  • Select all content (Ctrl+A)

  • Copy the content to the clipboard (Ctrl+C)

Save the bulk content

  • Open a Notepad session

  • Paste the content into the file (Ctrl+V)

  • Save the file with a name of the Language Overrides e.g. en-US (1)

Restoring the Language Content

Access the Language topic and select from the Language Overrides.

If the Language file doesn’t yet exist create a new file taking care to select the Language to match e.g. “en-US”.

Access the bulk content

  • Open a Notepad session with the file saved from the previous steps.

  • Select all content (Ctrl+A)

  • Paste the content to the clipboard (Ctrl+V)

Paste the bulk content

  • Choose the Bulk Editor.

  • Place the cursor into the content

  • Select all content (Ctrl+A) - to be replaced

  • Paste the content from the clipboard (Ctrl+V) - to replace

  • Save the Language Override file

Check and adjust the Interface section Language & Internationalization Settings > Language Code for any Interface that should use this language file.
