When users import categories they don't have access to, this option allows them immediate automatic access

Introduction

When access to categories is not rigorously controlled or restricted, sometimes it is preferable to automatically grant any Group Administrator, Group Data Administrator, or Group Manager access to a category they are trying to import.

Typically, when a user is trying to import data into a category they don't have access to, they will see a warning similar to the following:

Permissions violation. Existing category (name: Test id: 1) is not in user's available categories.

However, when the special account setting "teams_category_import" is enabled, instead of the above warning, the system will automatically add the category to the importing user's groups, allowing them access to import. In those cases, the user will see:

Permissions inherit enabled (teams_category_import setting). Existing category (name: Test id: 1) was not in user's available categories. Test has been added to group 1.

This message indicates that the import has caused the category in question ("Test") to be added to the importing user's groups, effectively granting them access.

How to enable Teams Category Import

  1. Login as the account owner

  2. Click the User Profile icon in the upper right

  3. Click My User Profile

  4. Click Toggle Advanced Settings

  5. Scroll down to teams_category_import

  6. Enter a 1 in the input provided

  7. Scroll down to the bottom of the form and click Save
