When you need to export only a subset of your data—such as published records or a specific group of locations—MetaLocator allows you to create a selection and export just those records. This helps you manage and analyze focused data sets without exporting your entire database.
1. Navigate to All Records
In the MetaLocator under Data or Locations, select All Records.
Locate the search bar at the top of the records list.
Click the down arrow (▾) next to the search field to open the Advanced Search options.
2. Perform a Search
Use the available filters to refine your results.
For example, to find published records, choose Published = Published.
Click Search to apply your filters.
Once your filtered list appears, look for the Create Selection button at the top of the list.
3. Create a Selection
Click Create Selection.
The system will confirm that a selection has been created based on your current search results.
This selection can include any subset of records you’ve filtered—such as specific categories, states, or published status.
4. Export the Selection
After creating your selection, navigate to Export in the left hand menu.
Select the Export button.
Click notification icon in the upper right to download the file containing only the records from your selection. (this may take a few minutes)
Notes
You can create selections from any search result—not just published records.
Selections are temporary and will reset when you log out or perform a new search.
